Why fruits rot, seeds mold and meat spoils…theories on microbe-macrobe competition

There is a new theoretical paper out on microbe-macrobe (vertebrate) competition, building off a 1977 hypothesis piece from the ever-colorful ecologist Dan Janzen.  Interesting thoughts on secondary metabolite production, microbial dispersion/sucession, and competition.
